Research at Mach 10: How to Read the Internet Faster
I have a confession: I don't read most of the articles I share. I scan them. I process them. But I don't sit there and read every word.
Why? Because 90% of content is fluff. Intros. Backstories. SEO keywords.
I want the meat. And I want it now. That's why I use Eyesme Extension. It's my "fluff filter."
The "Skim" is Dead. Long Live the "Scan."
Skimming is manual work. You have to move your eyes. You have to guess what's important. Scanning with AI is automatic.
My 3-Step Speed Workflow
1. The "Headline Check"
I see a clickbait title. "Is Coffee Killing You?" The Move: Ask Eyesme: "Does this article actually cite any studies? Or is it just opinion?" The Result: "It cites one study from 1990 that was inconclusive." Trash. Next.
2. The "Bullet Point Extraction"
I find a good article. "10 Ways to Optimize React." The Move: "List the 10 ways. Don't give me the explanations, just the headers." The Result: I get the list. I know 8 of them. I only read the 2 I don't know. Saved 15 minutes.
3. The "Cross-Reference"
I'm reading about a new tech product. The Move: "Find me 3 other reviews of this product that disagree with this one." The Result: I get a balanced view instantly. I don't live in an echo chamber.
The Verdict
You don't get points for reading every word. You get points for understanding the concept. Stop reading like it's 1800. Read like a cyborg.
