I Hacked My Online Courses: How to Learn 2x Faster
I buy a lot of online courses. I finish... almost none of them.
It's the same cycle. I get excited. I watch the first 3 videos. Then life happens. The videos get longer. The instructor gets more boring. I quit.
But I still want the knowledge! I just don't want the boredom.
So I started using Eyesme Extension to "hack" my learning process. It turns passive watching into active learning.
The Problem with Video Learning
Video is great, but it's linear. You have to move at the instructor's pace.
- Too Slow: "Hello everyone, today we are going to talk about..." GET TO THE POINT!
- Too Fast: "And then we just invert the matrix..." WAIT, WHAT?
- Unsearchable: "Where did he mention that one formula?" Good luck finding it.
Eyesme: My Personal Tutor
Eyesme sits on top of the video player. It watches with me. But unlike me, it never gets bored and it never forgets.
My Study Hacks
1. The "Pre-Read" Strategy
Old Way: Start video. Hope I understand. New Way: Before watching, I ask Eyesme: "Summarize the key concepts in this lecture." Why: It gives me a roadmap. I know what's coming. My brain is primed.
2. The "Explain Like I'm 5" Button
Old Way: Instructor explains a complex concept. I don't get it. I rewind. I still don't get it. I feel stupid. New Way: Pause. Ask Eyesme: "He just explained Quantum Entanglement. Can you explain it again, but simpler? Use an analogy." Why: Sometimes you just need a different explanation. Eyesme gives me that instantly.
3. The "Quiz Master"
Old Way: Finish video. Forget everything 10 minutes later. New Way: Ask Eyesme: "Generate 3 quiz questions based on this video to test my understanding." Why: Active recall is the only way to actually learn. Eyesme forces me to test myself.
The Verdict
Online learning shouldn't be a chore. It should be a conversation.
With Eyesme Extension, I'm not just staring at a screen. I'm interacting with the content. I'm finishing courses. And I'm actually remembering what I learned.
